- Description
- An exceptional opportunity has arisen to work for a market leading SME within the construction industry, based in Kingston. The Assistant Financial Accountant will assist in ensuring the integrity of financial accounting processes, reporting and controls. In addition, the role supports the business to achieve its strategic goals.
You will ideally be either ACCA or CIMA part - qualified with 1--2 years relevant commercial experience to match your qualification and have proven experience in a similar finance role,
You will bring a high level of self-motivation, initiative and flexibility with a strong focus on quality outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:-
Monthly Reporting:- Compilation of monthly management accounts and submission to divisional department heads in accordance with the issued timetable.
- Provide commentary, variance analysis and insight to the key stakeholders including and Department Heads
- Project reporting, variance analysis providing support to Project Managers.
- Continuous improvement in reporting to make it relevant and simplified with the key themes and messages easy to identify
- Responsible for ensuring integrity in the balance sheet reconciliation process including a full understanding of the construct and any risks to the carrying balances
- Update daily, weekly, monthly cashflows, monitor cashflow balances and forecasts ensuring working capital is available to fund operational and capital requirements.
- Processing month end journals for all entities, Bank, Payroll, Depreciation, Revenue, Loan, Interest payments
- Post completion statements: property sales, purchases, refinancing
- Update schedule and post monthly prepayment & accruals (including deferred income)
- Complete & submit quarterly VAT returns
- Complete & submit monthly CIS returns
- Support the CEOs and Senior Leadership team in meeting their strategic goals
- Partner with Operational and other functional teams to facilitate the meeting of the company strategic goals.
- Identify opportunities to improve and contribute to improving the quality and integrity of data within the business systems.
- Supporting the Accounts Payable team in absence of Accounts Payable Manager and Head of Finance.
- Assist with year- end support for preparation of statutory account completion
- Assist with the preparation of annual budgets, financial and sales forecasts
- Provide commentary and insight to the CEOs, Senior Leadership and Sales teams in relation to financial performance against their budgets and targets
- Assist with the continuous improvement of finance processes ensuring consistency, accuracy and efficiency whilst maintaining adequate financial control
- Be part qualified ACCA or CIMA
- Intermediate or advanced Excel skills
- Ability to analyse, interpret and provide insight on financial reports
- Have excellent oral and written communication skills
- Must have the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
- Be driven to succeed in a fast-paced environment
- Be a team player with a hands-on approach to getting things done and seeking continuous process improvement
