Description
An exceptional opportunity to work for a market leading SME within the service industry, based in Epsom. The Financial Controller will be responsible for managing the finance team and for ensuring the integrity of financial accounting processes, reporting and controls. In addition, the role advises and supports the business to achieve its strategic goals.

You will ideally be either ACCA or CIMA qualified with relevant commercial experience to match your qualification and have proven experience in a similar finance role, managing and mentoring a team. You will bring a high level of self-motivation, initiative and flexibility with a strong focus on quality outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:-

Monthly Divisional Reporting:
  • Responsible for the timely and accurate compilation of monthly consolidated accounts and submission to head office in accordance with the issued timetable.
  • Provide commentary, variance analysis and insight to the key stakeholders including CEOs and Department Heads
  • Continuous improvement in reporting to make it relevant and simplified with the key themes and messages easy to identify

Financial Control & Cashflow Management:
  • Responsible for ensuring integrity in the balance sheet reconciliation process including a full understanding of the construct and any risks to the carrying balances
  • Provide technical guidance and information to financial accounting staff, explain accounting transactions and ensure adherence to accounting standards and tax compliance
  • Monitor cashflow balances and forecasts ensuring working capital is available to fund operational and capital requirements

Business Partnering:
  • Support the CEOs and Senior Leadership team in meeting their strategic goals
  • Partner with Operational and other functional teams to facilitate the successful execution of promotions, adding value through input of finance, risk and process expertise as well as insight and reporting
  • Identify opportunities to improve and contribute to improving the quality and integrity of data within the business systems.

People Management:
  • Mentoring, coaching and developing the Finance team including setting of both individual and team KPI’s
  • Ensure that the Finance Team is aligned and supporting the business objectives and goals

Half Year and Full Year Audit, Risk and Compliance:
  • Oversee the preparation of consolidated accounts and submission to head office
  • Responsible for closing the half and full year audit programmes including supporting the Finance Team to address audit requirements and supporting schedules
  • Work with external suppliers to ensure ongoing compliance with payroll and tax obligations across all entities
  • Assist with tax compliance reviews and identification and resolution of business tax issues
  • Manage the head office annual compliance programme including internal audit, insurance and compliance sign offs. A member of the Management, Risk and Compliance (MRC) Committee

Budgeting and Forecasting:
  • Oversee the preparation of annual budgets, financial and sales forecasts as well as input and maintain the longer-term financial plan
  • Provide commentary and insight to the CEOs, Senior Leadership and Sales teams in relation to financial performance against their budgets and targets
  • Approval of spend and variance analysis throughout the year

Process Improvements:
Assist with the continuous improvement of finance processes ensuring consistency, accuracy and efficiency whilst maintaining adequate financial control
