- Description
Kenneth Brian Associates are delighted to be partnering with a highly successful and fast-growing business based in Central London to recruit a Trade Accountant. This is an excellent opportunity for a Qualified Accountant to join a dynamic trading environment and gain exposure to complex, high-volume transactions within a collaborative finance function.
The role offers broad exposure across trade accounting, month-end close, cash forecasting and stakeholder engagement, making it ideal for someone looking to deepen their experience in a commodities or trading-led business.
Key Responsibilities
- Play an active role in enhancing the month-end close, identifying smarter ways of working to improve efficiency, data reliability and the overall standard of financial insight delivered to the business.
- Gain hands-on exposure across core accounting cycles through a planned rotation, building a strong understanding of trade and commodities accounting, including provisions, intercompany balances, operational reporting to overseas entities, and compliance-related calculations.
- Support the production of monthly trading positions, including valuation of open contracts and calculation of unrealised profit and loss on physical trades.
- Act as a finance point of contact for trading, logistics and origin teams, responding to queries and contributing to process improvements that support smoother business operations.
- Take responsibility for preparing and maintaining rolling cash flow forecasts, ensuring visibility over short- and medium-term liquidity.
- Assist with foreign currency risk monitoring and contribute to finance-led projects, including system upgrades and process automation.
- Provide support across recurring finance activities and project-based initiatives, particularly those linked to the development or rollout of new trade accounting systems.
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience within trade accounting, commodities, or a fast-paced transactional finance environment
- Strong analytical skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving
- Confident communicator, comfortable working with non-finance stakeholders
- ACCA / CIMA / ACA qualified
