Description

Kenneth Brian Associates are working with a growing business based in Coulsdon, who are seeking an experienced Accounts Assistant to join their friendly finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with solid bookkeeping and accounting experience to take on a varied role within a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate bookkeeping records across sales, purchases, expenses, and bank reconciliations
  • Manage ledgers: nominal, debtors, and creditors
  • Process VAT returns and CIS returns in line with HMRC requirements
  • Assist with payroll processing or liaise with payroll providers
  • Ensure compliance with statutory obligations and internal controls
  • Liaise with external accountants for audit, year-end accounts, and tax submissions
  • Proactively improve accounting systems, processes, and efficiency

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years’ proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar finance role
  • Strong knowledge of UK accounting practices, VAT, CIS, and HMRC compliance (preferred)
  • Proficiency with Sage accounting software
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent organisation and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently in a busy office environment
  • Professional integrity and confidentiality

Working Hours

  • Full-time, onsite at the Coulsdon office

Salary & Benefits

  • £30,000 – £38,000 per annum (depending on experience)
